Completed via your intranet, on-line or in hard copy, we gather and analyse information on empowerment within your organisation, as measured by the fun, freedom and fulfilment experienced by employees.
Feedback can be given to all participants in a variety of ways, along with agreed or suggested actions for improvement either as part of a report or as follow-up activity. Resources to facilitate improvement action plans can be accessed on-line.

Do employees enjoy coming to work, or dread it? |
 |
Is there flexibility of attendance and reward, as well as freedom to ‘do the job’? |
 |
Do employees feel a sense of achievement and development at work? |
Getting these right is the hallmark of truly successful companies, leading to lower levels of sickness/absence,
higher motivation and retention and greatly improved
business results.

Setting up internal improvement teams enables regular review of performance by the people most able to improve it and empowers them to do so. It is also developmental and motivating for participants.
As well as addressing problems, action learning techniques can be used to develop blue skies thinking about the future and can enable managers to devise and implement improvements with the support and input of their peers – a truly empowering process!

It is important to identify the right improvement groups in order to gain maximum benefit for the organisation and the individuals.
Examples might include:
- Cross functional groups – bringing new perspectives and ideas to old problems
- Working teams – including dispersed teams such as field sales or home workers
- Professional groups – sharing practice, ideas and continuous development
- Cross site groups – building organisational understanding and a sense of belonging

Either selectively or across an organisation, these workshops can be used to re-energise, motivate and empower staff, particularly at times of major change.
These workshops are highly participative, with a focus on how the individuals themselves, as well as the organisation, can benefit from improving and enhancing the fun, freedom and fulfilment they experience at work.
Where used to facilitate major change, it is recommended that a 4-step approach is used:
- A full staff survey, to inform the process and act as a base-line for evaluation
- Empowerment workshops to communicate and inform corporate action plans
- Improvement planning with a hierarchy of plans and implementation responsibility
- Implementation, follow-up and sustainability through reviews and on-going action

CSR is about a lot more than environmental branding by the marketing department. It is about acting is a responsible and sustainable way and setting social goals alongside business targets – being part of the communities that your employees, customers, suppliers and shareholders belong to. Engaging with CSR and undertaking appropriate activities can greatly increase employee fun and fulfilment as well as bringing tangible benefits to others.
CSR can take many forms and we can help you identify and establish what is right for you.
Examples might be:
- Sponsoring an international, national or local charity or group
- Local environmental or social action as employee development
- Making facilities available for community groups at weekends/evenings
- Employee teambuilding or fun-days to undertake a worthwhile project

Quality standards, properly implemented, have both internal and external benefits. The process of becoming accredited should lead to better processes, less waste or negative environmental impact, better skilled and motivated staff, better products or services and more satisfied customers and stakeholders. We can help you work towards, maintain or review most of the key standards which you may want to achieve.
The standards we work with are:
- ISO 9001 series Investors in People EFQM
(and BETA for smaller organisations)
- ISO 14001 environmental standard
(BS 8555 for smaller organisations)
